What’s On Your Bucket List?- Things To Do Before You Die!

Do you have a bucket list? After the movie, The Bucket List, starring Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson came out, bucket lists were hot. For those who do not know, a bucket list is an itemized list of things that you’ve always wanted to do, but haven’t for one reason or another. At some point in your life, whether faced with an incurable illness, nearing retirement, or just aging, you start to wonder where the time went and when you’re going to get around to doing those things.

Feng Shui Your Bedroom

Your bedroom is your sanctuary and haven. It’s a place to get away from it all and leave everyday stresses behind. Couples who put a little extra effort into turning their bedroom into their personal love den, however, get even more than a peaceful getaway. These couples have found a way to put togetherness first and increase their bond with each other through inspired love play. You may not always be in the mood when you walk in the door after a long day, but one step into your passionate playground should go a long way toward stoking the fires of passion.Ready to bring sexy back to your bedroom? Now that you’ve defined your purpose, use these tips to put it into action!

The color of passion
Color is the easiest and quickest way to set the mood of a room. While there is a huge spectrum of colors to choose from, some have definite advantages and disadvantages. Red, for instance, is often identified as a color synonymous with sex and romance, but it also known for bringing out aggressive behaviors and thoughts. This tends to rule out the idea using red as a main color in the bedroom. You may want hot sex, but you still need to be able to sleep in the room. Purple, on the other hand, invokes an exotic, sensual feeling while still keeping the air of relaxation, making it a more favorable color choice.

Soft & Luxurious Bedding
This is not the place to scrimp on your budget. Get the highest quality thread-count sheets you can afford. If you’re buying new bedding, open the packaging to actually feel the blankets before purchasing. Sheets will always be a bit stiff before you wash them, but blankets should make you feel like you can’t wait another instant to snuggle up with your partner underneath them. Keep in mind your color choices and how easy it will be to take care of your bedding. If you have animals, that exotic, beaded bedding set may look nice for a few days until they get eaten off or need to be dry cleaned because of all the animal hair. Solid colors in your actual bedding provide the greatest ease for everyday maintenance. You can make up for the lack of pattern elsewhere in your room.
Lots of Pillows

While they may get tossed on the floor during your love play, or even when you sleep, the look of a bed filled with pillows sends a clear message of invitation. When you get creative with textures, the invitation gets harder and harder to pass up. For even more fun, consider ordering (or making your own) specialized pillowcases with sexy messages on them to help set the tone.

Mood Setters

Flowers/Live Plants
Nothing says vitality like a thriving plant. Keep in mind your color scheme and pick flowers or plants accordingly. Roses, tulips and daisies are common romantic favorites.

Candles

When you think of romance, one of the first things that comes to mind is candlelight. Use this to your advantage in your den of love.

Romantic/Sensual Accents
Sensual photography, artwork, sculptures or collectibles are a great addition to any passionate bedroom. You might also want to set the tone with artwork from a particular location you both
enjoy

Basket of Lovin’
Keep a secret basket, drawer or chest of your love toys handy and easily accessible. Things to include could include lotions, massage oils(
My favorite is BodyBathWorks; Lavender and Vanilla~Sleep), scarves, toys and anything else you both like to use or try for your love play.

The Wardrobe of a Sex Goddess
Keep your lingerie in a prominent position in your closet. This creates two effects. One, it’s easy to use whenever the put strikes and two, it serves as a daily teaser for your love
r.

In Conclusion
When picking out anything for your room, look at it’s texture and color and think about what it makes you feel. If it doesn’t feel right for your purpose, don’t use it in your room. This is your love den. Make it a place that works for you both.

I Love and I’m Proud Of My Accent – A Facebook Group

I just started a new Facebook group called “I Love and I’m Proud of My African Accent“. If you are like me, with deep roots in Africa, you probably have heard Americans say you have an accent. You might feel that having an accent is not a good thing. Many new immigrants in America are embarrassed about their foreign accents and struggle to learn to speak like Americans. I think all this is rather unfortunate. With apologies to no one, I speak English with my distinctive Tanzanian accent~ but I usually get this “I love your accent, it’s so beautiful”, that makes me feel proud of my individuality~

“An accent is an intrinsic aspect of spoken language. Nobody can say a word, let alone speak a language, without an accent. Basically, an accent is one’s distinctive way of speaking” For example, Texans, have their own accent, so do New Yorkers and Americans from other regions. We all should be proud of our accents, because that differentiate you from another person, it make you “Unique”

So if you have an accent and are proud of it, go ahead, join this group and invite all of your friends to join this group as well.A place where you can connect and share stories and feel like you are at home.Anyone can join this group~ After all we all do have accents. LOL!

By the way, there is no such thing as “Do you speak African” and ooh..Africa is not a country, it’s a Continent; Africa is a land of diversity and contrasts, comprised of several thousand different ethnic groups. Each ethnic group has its own distinct language, traditions, arts and crafts, history, way of life and religion.

Design Me Pretty~Or Not~

How much plastic surgery is too much? What could drive a 23 years old young woman to decide to undergo 10 procedures in one day and almost died? The girl who was once a young, naive, Los Angeles transplant on “The Hills” now boasts a new nose, a chin reduction, ear reshaping, eyebrow lift, slimming of hips and thighs, and an upgrade to DDD implants ( get this-> she wanted size H breasts to match her name-Heidi-WTF? excuse my french!). She says the plastic surgery is helping her become “the best me” she can be. By the way,Is it just  me or does she look older now after the surgery?

The want to forever look young, not be seen with wrinkles, and the inability to accept the natural aging process. Simply – vanity seems to have taken over the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. These things are what are making people become addicted to plastic surgery. Do you really want to have this sort of addiction? Pursuing cosmetic surgery for the wrong reasons may be what leads to excessive plastic surgery.

It’s one thing if you have to do a plastic surgery for medical reasons, but it’s another thing if your reason is just because you want to collect some flaws that you think you may have.Even surgeons who profit from the boom are now admitting some of these treatment may be unnecessary.

For many people all over the world, plastic surgery, otherwise known as cosmetic surgery can become addictive.I used to think this was a problem only women were affected by, but no,no, no,It is not only women that are addicted to cosmetic surgery. Men too are now fast and furiously becoming addicted to plastic surgery. This is by far a very fast spreading addiction. There are many addictions of this nature all over the globe. Your neighbour may even be an addicted and you may not even know about it.

In a Glamour magazine survey, 75 percent of women between the age of 18 to 35 believed they were fat. However, only 25 percent were medically overweight — the same percentage as overweight men (from Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf). This kind of exaggerated self-criticism, called body dysmorphic disorder, can undermine your self-image. Body dysmorphic disorder has been defined as an obsession with a facial or body trait.

Plastic surgery gone wrong pictures~They get it right the first time, but  then the second time around not so good~

Jocelyn Wildenstein:  Famous for being disgustingly rich, Wildenstein has now earned a reputation as being the single most botched-up plastic surgery experiment in history. Too much money. Find a better hobby or better yet a charity.

Divorce Gift Registy By Yours Trully-Debenhams

Move over Macy’s, Nordstrom, Sears,Crate & Barrell and Pottery Barn for your wedding gift registry.A store in Britain has launched a gift list service for people getting divorced.Debenhams has launched what is thought to be the UK’s first ‘divorce gift list’ for couples who are splitting up.

The tendency for modern couples to live together before getting married means the wedding list – designed to stock the newlyweds’ first home with basic goods – has become somewhat obsolete.
Divorce, on the other hand, results in one partner leaving and then having the need to fit out an entire new house with cookware, linen and electric goods.

Peter Moore, Head of Retail Services at Debenhams, said: “Divorcing can be an expensive time and registering for a Divorce Gift List means that family and friends can help the newly separated begin their new life.” “Unlike a wedding list which tends to be full of luxury items, I think this is going to be more basic,People will get towels, bed linens, irons, toasters and kettles.” Attridge said.

The launch date was anything but random — Debenham’s chose the month of January because it’s the busiest month for divorce in the UK.

I wonder if they will also have or / include a -> How To : A complete guide to choosing the right divorce gift for you!..

What Would You Remember The Most About Year 2009? ~~Here is My 2009 In Review~~

First of all, I would like to extent my sincere thanks to each and everyone of you for being a part of my new found hobby “blogging”.I started blogging two months ago and has met a lot of good, fun, smart people and became friends to some of them.I had no idea that blogging can be this  rewarding.Although blogging requires a lot of time, focus and dedication, I can clearly say, I love every minute of it. I cant wait to spend more  blogging time with all my fans and I hope this new year is going to be a great year for all of us.
Year 2009 was a year full of events, good and bad ones of-course, and we both have memorable events that we will be talking about in years to come. I decided to share some of the 2009 events  that I will surely never forget.

January 20th 2009- Barack H Obama became the 44th president of the United States of America and nation’s first African America president.

January 15th, 2009- Miracle on the Hudson-The plane, a US Airways Airbus 320 bound for Charlotte, N.C., struck a flock of birds during takeoff minutes earlier at LaGuardia Airport and was submerged up to its windows in the Hudson River. Thanks to Captain Sully Sullenberger who successfully carried out the emergency ditching of the plane thus saving the lives of all 155 people on the aircraft-150 passengers, three flight attendants and two pilots.

June 11th,2009 – Who would forget about the Swine flu (H1N1) scare? This was the day The World Health Organization raised its alert on swine flu to the highest level, in its first designation of a global pandemic in 41 years.

June 29th, 2009 -Convicted former financial swindler Bernie Madoff was sentenced to 150 years of incarceration the maximum current federal guidelines would allow.Once the darling of Wall Street and considered a wizard of the financial world Bernard Madoff reached the highest heights by stooping to the lowest of lows, by defrauding investors in massive twenty (20) year Ponzi scheme that bilked investors out of more than $US65 billion dollars.

August 15th,2009 -My husband and I, celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary, with our fourlegged son Coco by our side.

August 25th, 2009- The death of  Ted Kennedy; Massachusetts Sen. Edward Kennedy, the patriarch of the first family of Democratic politics, also known as the “Lion of the Senate” died at his home in Hyannis Port, Massachusetts after a lengthy battle with brain cancer. He was 77.

Fifth Avenue XOXO’s Window Displays Draws Crowds

New York(WPIX)-Forget the candy cane carousels; a new kind of window display has jaws dropping down Fifth Avenue.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Female clothing line XOXO located at Fifth Avenue and 38th Street is drawing crowds this holiday season, thanks to its new, “live” window display.

Creative director and designer Carol Powley, calls her living mannequins “window theater.” Some are questioning who the display is meant to attract, considering XOXO only sells women’s clothes. But, Powley says the display is geared toward gift-buying boyfriends.

The encasement depicts a young woman’s apartment, where two attractive models try on clothes, flip through magazines and paint each other’s nails. After dark, they change into evening wear, and spend hours primping and polishing for a night out on the town. Did we mention this is all in front of gawking crowds?

The display — which plays out more like a peep show — has drawn hundreds of men. It’s no surprise that changing time — when the models strip down to their undies — draws the biggest crowd. Police were called to the scene Friday, thanks to a female pedestrian who drew an unfavorable reaction.

Stop Waiting,Do It Now!! There’s No Better Time Than Right Now To Live Your Life and Be Happy…

So stop waiting until you finish school, until you go back to school,
until you lose ten pounds, until you gain ten pounds,
until you have kids, until your kids leave the house,
until you start work, until you retire,
until you get married, until you get divorced,
until Friday night, until Sunday morning,
until you get a new car or home, until your car or home is paid off,
until spring, until summer, until fall, until winter,
until you are off welfare, until the first or fifteenth,
until your song comes on, until your song ends
until you’ve had a drink, until you’ve sobered up,
until you die, until you are born again
to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy–David In Sanya

Occupational Therapy Has Nothing To Do With Your Occupation!

As I introduce myself and my title, I often hear, “I’m retired. I don’t need an occupational therapist…Most people thinks occupational therapy is something to do with  their occupation and they often want to do physical therapy instead, when asked why physical therapy? their answer..”I want to be fit.I dont need occupational therapy, I retired years ago”!One common question I’ve been asked by patients or family members is what’s the difference between Physical Therapy(PT) and Occupational Therapy(OT)? As an Occupational therapist  I’ve decided to take the time to explain the difference between  these two disciplines.

Occupational Therapy(OT) is treatment that helps individuals with mental or physical deficiencies to achieve independence and improve one’s ability to perform daily activities by emphasizes the acquisition of or compensation for functional performance skills needed in daily living.Occupational therapist focus on small and large motor groups that contribute to self care skills such as feeding, dressing, grooming and hygiene, increase independence with toileting skills, transfers from/to bed, toilet, wheelchair. In general; to increasing one’s independence in necessary life skills

Occupational therapists can also prescribe an adaptive equipment if it’s needed, for example a bedside commode, reachers, dressing sticks, shoe horn and adaptive eating utensils. Occupational therapists may also offer programs and services from Birth toThree, driver’s rehabilitation, low vision, ergonomics/work hardening and lymphedema treatment.Sometimes an OT is required to go at a person’s home to perform a home assessment/evaluation to determine if the home is safe and is adaptable to the individual’s needs.

Occupational therapy practitioners work with different populations, diagnosis, specialities, and in different settings such as in hospitals, nursing homes, outpatient clinics, rehabilitation facilities, private practice, sheltered workshops, home health agencies, community mental health centers, public school systems, schools for handicapped children, adult day care programs, research facilities, for local businesses as a consultant or for universities or vo-techs as educators.

OT Areas of focus include:
- Fine motor skills: small, finely coordinated hand movements
- Visual perceptual skills: the ability to understand and interpret what is seen
- Visual motor skills: the ability to coordinate visual skills and motor skills

Physical Therapy(PT) on the other hand, involves rehabilitation from injury by emphasizes the acquisition of basic motor skills necessary for functional mobility as well as the physical capability.Physical therapists focus on the large motor groups that contribute to walking, reaching, standing and physical activities. They work on strength, balance, range of motion and swelling as well as pain to encourage independence.

PT Areas of focus include:
- Gross motor skills: activities that use large muscle i.e walking, climb stair e.t.c
- Mobility skills: moving safely throughout the environment with or without an adaptive equipment
- Postural control and alignment needed to perform daily activities and for increasing independence in life skills

Both Physical and Occupational Therapists may address the following areas:
- Strength and endurance
- Body awareness
- Proper body positioning and adaptations
- Sensory motor skills
- Safety awareness

Physical therapists and Occupational therapists have similar training. Occupational therapists receive more training in cognition, fine motor, oral and hand skill interventions and Physical therapists receive more training  in gross motor and postural development.PT’s and OT’s work in tandem for the best outcome.I hope this has answered some of the questions. I’ve tried to be as short and descriptive as I could , but I did talk a lot more about Occupational therapy than Physical therapy because it seems like most people are having a hard time understanding what is occupational therapy.

Be Culturally Informed;KANGA -A Beautiful African Garment

Today I wanted to talk about this beautiful African  garment called KANGA. Kanga means “guinea hen” in Swahili for its brilliant colors. Kanga is a colourful garment worn by women and occasionally by men throughout Eastern Africa. It is a piece of printed cotton fabric, about 1.5m by 1m, (as long as the span of your outstreched arms and wide enough to cover you from neck to knee,or from breast to toe)often with a border along all four sides (called pindo in Swahili), and a central part (mji) which differs in design from the borders. Khangas are usually very colorful ,printed in bold designs and bright colours and  most of them do have Swahili sayings printed on them .Kangas are usually bought and worn as a pair – called a “doti”.

Apart from its protective and decorative role, kanga is all about sending the message. It is the equivalent of the get well, greetings, or congratulations cards in the western culture but in this case the message goes a little bit beyond the normal meaning. For example, a fruit, a flower, a boat, or a bird could mean good upbringing or just the appreciation of beauty. On the other hand, a lion, a shark, or any such kind of dangerous animals could signal the sense of danger or a clear warning.
Kangas are the perfect gift. Husbands give kangas to wives. children to their mothers, a woman may split a pair to give half to her best friend. Men can sleep in kangas, and often wear them around the house; women wear them everywhere; babies are virtually born into them, and are usually carried in a soft sling of kanga cloth. Kangas are extremely popular throughout East Africa not only for clothing but for their multiple uses; no-one can ever have too many!

Says Welcome Pres. Bush To Tanzania

It says Congratulation Barack Obama

Kanga has also been used to mobilize people in political rallies, public health campaigns as well as creating awareness to particular development projects. When words are difficult to articulate with a mouth, inscribe them on kanga and wait for the results. Although cheap in price, the power of kanga in the Swahili culture is unimaginable.

These are some of the Swahili sayings found in Kanga
  • Wema hauozi — Kindness is never wasted
  • Kawia ufike — Better late than never
  • Riziki Ya Mtu Hupangwa Na Mungu — One’s fortunes are planned by God
  • Mimi Na Wangu Wewe Na Wako Chuki Ya Nini — I have mine and you have yours — why the fuss?
  • Sisi Sote Abiria Dereva Ni Mungu — In this world we are all passengers, God is the driver.
  • Fimbo La Mnyonge Halina Nguvu — Might is right.
  • Liya Na Tabia Yako Usilaumu Wenzako — Do not blame others for problems you have created yourself.
  • Naogopa Simba Na Meno Yake, Siogopi Mtu Kwa Maneno Yake — I fear the lion for its jaws, I do not fear man for his word….

To Achieve The Incredible, You Have To Attempt The Impossible.

Just Finished watching “Fly Away Home”.Today was my first time watching this movie, and I must admit ,this movie exceeded my expectations! I was so impressed by this little girl,a 14 years old kid who lead a family of orphaned geese who lost their way.
Her name-Amy, who lost her mother to a car accident in New Zealand. She then moves to Canada to live with her father, but finds her new life miserable, until she finds abandoned goose eggs from when the developers tore up the forest behind her home.
They soon hatch and Amy becomes their “mother” and takes care of them. Winter quickly arrives, and the geese must go south. But who will show them the way? It is up to Amy and her father to make sure that the young geese find their way, and with the assistance of her father’s invention, they do just that, they helped her to get the geese to migrate to a preserve. At the end of the movie, you see the geese returned back and are spotted on Amy’s porch the following Winter!
The movie is based on a remarkable true story that happened only there really wasn’t a character named Amy or Thomas or Susan or Uncle David or Barry. But their based on real people.

Tanzanite- Tanzania’s Rarest Gem.The Germstone Of The 20th Century!!

Tanzanite is an exceptionally rare gem stone- estimated at a thousand times rarer than diamond. This extraordinary gemstone occurs in only one place worldwide. Its blue, surrounded by a fine hint of purple, is a wonderful colour. It is named after the East African state of Tanzania, the only place in the world where it has been found.

Africa? Does anyone think of gemstones when they hear that name? Well they should, because Africa is a continent which provides the world with a multitude of truly magnificent gemstones, like tanzanite for example. On its discovery in 1967, it was enthusiastically celebrated by the specialists as the ‘gemstone of the 20th century’. They held their breath in excitement as they caught sight of the first deep-blue crystals which had been found in the Merelani Hills near Arusha in the north of Tanzania.

Millions of years ago, metamorphic schists, gneisses and quartzites formed impressive, flat-topped inselbergs on a vast plain in the shadow of Kilimanjaro. The precious crystals grew in deposits on the inside of these unusual elevations. For a long, long time they were hidden from the eye of Man, until one day some passing Masai shepherds noticed some sparkling crystals lying in the sun and took them along with them.

In Merelani today, the search is carried on for the coveted crystals in several, smallish mines, in some cases using modern methods. As a rule, only small grains are found, but now and again the mineworkers succeed in fetching out a larger crystal – to the joy of the mine owners and that of the large number of tanzanite fans.

The tanzanite trade is in the hands of many licensed merchants, mostly on a small scale, who have, over the decades, built up stable, trusting business relationships with gemstone companies in India, Germany, Israel and the USA. An estimated 90 per cent of all tanzanite merchants are official members of the International Colored Gemstone Association ICA, and are thus bound by the high ethical standards of that organisation. In this way, this exclusive gemstone is not subject to trade via dubious channels, but instead, in spite of its rarity, passed on along reputable trade routes to established cutting-centres and subsequently to major jewellers all round the world.

TANZANIA" The Cradle Of Mankind"–Celebrated Its 48th Independence!!

9 December 1961 – Tanzania Achieves Independence. The mainland of Tanzania became a German colony called Tanganyika in 1884 whilst the Sultanate of Zanzibar became a British Protectorate in 1890. Tanganyika became a British mandated territory in 1918 and achieved independence in 1961. In 1963 Zanzibar achieved independence, and a year later formed a union with Tanganyika under the new name of Tanzania.

Tanzania is home to some of the oldest human settlements unearthed by archaelogists , including fossils of early humans  found in and around Olduvai Gorge in northern Tanzania, an area often referred to as “The Cradle of Mankind”. These fossils include Paranthropus bones thought to be over 2 million years old, and the oldest known footprints of the immediate ancestors of humans, the Laetoli footprints, estimated to be about 3.6 million years old.

SKYPE-Some Of You May Know Skype, Some Of You May Even Use It, But Many Of You Might Not Have Any Clue What It’s All About. So Here We Go…

Who Is It For

Do you have families or friends abroad whom you call more often? Then Skype is for you.Skype calls are particularly useful for those with friends and families living abroad because of the cost saving over more traditional methods.

Nowadays, many people are choosing not to have a landline, but are turning to technology for their communication needs. With the advent of the mobile phone and computers, landlines are becoming slightly old fashioned and restrictive. For not much more than line rental charge, mobile users can use their free minutes to call one another or send text messages.

How It Works

Skype allows users to communicate( through computer and/or mobile phone) by both voice, and more traditional textual instant messaging.Calls to other users of the service and, in some countries, to free-of-charge numbers, are free, while calls to other landlines and mobile phones can be made for a fee. Additional features include instant messaging, file transfer and video conferencing. Voice chat allows both calling a single user and conference calling.Skype’s text chat client allows group chats, emoticons, storing chat history, offline messaging and (in recent versions) editing of previous messages.

What You Need To Do

By downloading their software, a user of Skype can call other Skype users anywhere in the world for free.Users can communicate through PC to PC free calling, or Mobile phone to Mobile phone free calling. As long as both users have Skype downloaded to their computers and mobile phones.

Download Skype Here..and start using Skype today, believe me, is worth it.I have used Skype more than any other software I have currently on my system. I’ve also installed Skype into my mobile phone and I am able to communicate with my friends who also have skype on their mobile phone, free of charge. So what are you waiting for? It’s free after all..

When Planning For Your Next Winter Gateway or Adventure- -Why Not Try Something Different This Time? AN ICE HOTEL..

An ice hotel- a temporary hotel made up entirely of snow and sculpted blocks of ice.All of the ice hotels are reconstructed every year, and are dependent upon constant sub-freezing temperatures during construction and operation. The walls, fixtures, and fittings are made entirely of ice, and are held together using a substance known as snice which takes the place of mortar in a traditional brick-built hotel.

When is the best time to visit ICEHOTEL? It depends on what you want to experience. ICEHOTEL shifts from frozen solid to a free flowing river – and back – during a year, still promoting the best each season has to offer. ICEHOTEL never stands still
In popular culture, an ice hotel was featured in the James Bond film Die Another Day.The well known Ice hotels are found in-Sweden, Canada, Norway, Romania and Finland. Enjoy Your Stay…LOL

Africa Needs Trade, Not Aid!!

I passionately believe that TRADE NOT AID is the only viable strategy for Africa’s economic and social development.Aid, whether humanitarian or economic, confers enormous power and influence on donors to the extent that the political leadership in recipient countries are more accountable to them than to their own people. In truth, Africans are and will be escaping poverty the same way everybody else did: through the efforts of resourceful entrepreneurs, democratic reformers and ordinary citizens at home, not through PR extravaganzas of ill-informed outsiders.Just Saying..
