Tea Party~ Ascot Hats and Spring Dresses as Our Theme.

This past weekend a couple of us ladies got together and had a beautiful Tea party event, with  Ascot hats and spring dresses as our main theme. We really had fun and we are planning on doing another Tea party event next month.
Tea parties with a special theme can be a lot of fun for you and your guests. Whether you are planning for a birthday party, anniversary or festive holiday season, you can create an overall theme to transport your guests into the mood of the event.Putting together a theme for a tea party is easy. It is basically just a matter of coordinating the food, décor and ambiance based on your initial theme. Popular parties center on many different themes.
Some of the more recent popular themes are Valentine’s Day, Easter, Spring Fling, Mother’s Day, Bridal Tea, Independence Day, Birthday, Ethnic, Bon Voyage,Autumn Celebration, Thanksgiving and even Christmas. The theme for a tea party is only limited by your own imagination.
Having a theme for your tea party provides a unifying concept and a direction for your own creativity and for the pleasure of your guests. A theme will make it easier for you to decide on what food to serve, how to decorate the room, how to plan the design of the invitations, and how to set the tone for your guests. It also provides you with a focus around which to plan and perfect all of the details.

Ladies at this event were Rachel in an orange dress, Betty in a pink dress,Tina in a blue dress, Loise (host of the event) in a black and white dress and Marsha in a white top.

Rumor Has It ~ Beyonce is Prego~

This gives a new meaning to the phrase, “Making Sweet Music Together”. According to various reports, singer Beyonce Knowles (formally of Destiny’s Child) is pregnant. The father? None other than rapper Jay-Z!But then.. wait…Beyonce rep says prego rumors are untrue and has refused to comment on reports suggesting the singer and her rap mogul husband Jay-Z are expecting their first child. Notoriously-unreliable urban gossip site Mediatakeout.com broke the news Thursday, claiming the scoop came from a “rock solid source.” The report stated that Beyonce is due to deliver later this year… So who knows.. Time will tell..

FollowFriday ~Remembering Alexander McQueen~

While the fashion world is mourning the loss of one of its greatest, Alexander McQueen, we are comforted in knowing that his creative legacy will forever live on.His countless fans will never forget the projection of an ethereal Kate Moss hologram at the Fall 2006 presentation, nor his last show, Spring/Summer 2010, in which he sent dozens of futuristic models in pod-like mini-dresses and insect-inspired shoes down the runway.

Saks Fifth Avenue, which has long been a supporter of Alexander McQueen, recently opened a new in-store boutique for McQueen, one of its best-selling British designer labels, along with Burberry, on its refurbished third floor.Saks is now in the process of designing a “memorial window” for the renegade designer who revolutionised fashion in the last two decades.

Boitano, one of many senior American retailers trying to come to terms with the designer’s suicide, recently returned from Milan where he saw McQueen’s new menswear collection and also previewed his pre-collection for autumn.“The pre-collection is gorgeous, just gorgeous; the most beautiful cocktail and evening gowns. We were planning to do a series of special ‘trunk’ shows in the store for special customers, but that won’t happen now.”

Get To Know An African Soul-Jazz Vocalist ~ SOMI ~

I discovered Somi while surfing the internet today. So I started to take a sneek peek of her album Red Soil In My Eyes, listening to the song “Ingele” over at YouTube, the more I listened to her the more I was drawn to find out more about her music.  If The Rain Come First is her latest album, and  had  previously released 2 albums before the electric soul-jazz of 2003’s Eternal Motive (SanaaHouse) and the acoustic, culture-merging elegance of 2007’s multilingual Red Soil in My Eyes (World Village/Harmonia Mundi).

This young songwriter was born in Illinois and did most of her growing up in America, but the singer who calls herself Somi — that’s short for L. Kabasomi Kakoma — is the daughter of Rwandan and Ugandan parents, also spent time living in Africa and, due in no small part to the extremes of that experience, has created a seamless merger of cultures, sounds and emotions with this richly textured recording

Somi has been featured on CNN International, The Ananda Lewis Show, and BET, while performing at venues like Joe’s Pub, B.B.King’s in Times Square, The Blue Note in New York, the Atlanta Jazz Festival, and Chicago’s South Shore Jazz Fest.I just cant believe that I have never heard of her before, until today .The minute I heard the song, I was like “WOW”, what a powerful voice! If you like jazz sound of Sade, you are going to love Somi. Check out Somi’s Red Soil In My Eyes”

The Village Voice described her as “One of the most distinctive voices of New York’s progressive soul movement” Somi album “If  The Rains Come First” debuted number 2 on the Billboard World Music charts and number 21 on the Billboard Heatseeker Albums. This album has been very well received in the industry, earning four stars by the “All Music Guide’ after calling it “Ethereal, Surreal, and Soulful.” The Billboard.com” calls the album “All Elegance and Awe… Utterly Captivating!” and “The Boston Globe” calls the album “Glistens With Sheen Of An Almost Impossibly Perfect Cosmopolitanism.”
Iam going to get this album.I am sure this is going to be one of my best music investments. To hear a sample of this album, visit www.somimusic.com

The city of New Orleans celebrates their Super Bowl champion Saints with a wild parade today.Mardi Gras floats carrying players, coaches and team owner Tom Benson started rolling from the Superdome for a victory parade to celebrate the team’s first NFL championship. The Saints’ 31-17 victory over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday capped just the ninth winning season in the team’s 43-year history. The song “We are the Champions” blared as tens of thousands of people lined the parade route for the parade’s 5 p.m. start.

Players, wearing team jerseys instead of traditional Carnival masks and costumes, tossed beads into the crowd and signed autographs for throngs of screaming fans. Benson shouted ‘‘Who Dat!’’ into a microphone from his perch atop a float. Head coach Sean Payton blew kisses and held the Lombardi Trophy over his head.
‘‘Here’s to the best Mardi Gras week in the history of this city,’’ Payton said, raising a glass of champagne during a toast outside the city’s historic Gallier Hall.

The Book Of Eli~King James Survives The Apocalypse~

The following short review may contain minor spoilers. I’ve stayed away from the big ones, just know that you have been warned!
The Book of Eli is another post-apocalyptic film-(A meteorite and a subsequent war 30 years earlier has scorched the Earth and the population). This time, Eli (Denzel Washington).A lone man fights his way across America willing to do any and everything in order to protect a sacred book that holds the secrets to saving humankind. He even travels with a shotgun and a blade so to protect the book. The storyline, actors, and fight scenes were the movies only saving grace. The Book of Eli may not be Denzel’s best offering, but it is worth seeing. You will most definitely enjoy the action scenes with Denzel. I enjoyed the movie and the action scenes. Some Christian movie reviewers are concerned about the violence and the language in the film. I thought though, the ending was a bit weak.

Design Me Pretty~Or Not~

How much plastic surgery is too much? What could drive a 23 years old young woman to decide to undergo 10 procedures in one day and almost died? The girl who was once a young, naive, Los Angeles transplant on “The Hills” now boasts a new nose, a chin reduction, ear reshaping, eyebrow lift, slimming of hips and thighs, and an upgrade to DDD implants ( get this-> she wanted size H breasts to match her name-Heidi-WTF? excuse my french!). She says the plastic surgery is helping her become “the best me” she can be. By the way,Is it just  me or does she look older now after the surgery?

The want to forever look young, not be seen with wrinkles, and the inability to accept the natural aging process. Simply – vanity seems to have taken over the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. These things are what are making people become addicted to plastic surgery. Do you really want to have this sort of addiction? Pursuing cosmetic surgery for the wrong reasons may be what leads to excessive plastic surgery.

It’s one thing if you have to do a plastic surgery for medical reasons, but it’s another thing if your reason is just because you want to collect some flaws that you think you may have.Even surgeons who profit from the boom are now admitting some of these treatment may be unnecessary.

For many people all over the world, plastic surgery, otherwise known as cosmetic surgery can become addictive.I used to think this was a problem only women were affected by, but no,no, no,It is not only women that are addicted to cosmetic surgery. Men too are now fast and furiously becoming addicted to plastic surgery. This is by far a very fast spreading addiction. There are many addictions of this nature all over the globe. Your neighbour may even be an addicted and you may not even know about it.

In a Glamour magazine survey, 75 percent of women between the age of 18 to 35 believed they were fat. However, only 25 percent were medically overweight — the same percentage as overweight men (from Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolf). This kind of exaggerated self-criticism, called body dysmorphic disorder, can undermine your self-image. Body dysmorphic disorder has been defined as an obsession with a facial or body trait.

Plastic surgery gone wrong pictures~They get it right the first time, but  then the second time around not so good~

Jocelyn Wildenstein:  Famous for being disgustingly rich, Wildenstein has now earned a reputation as being the single most botched-up plastic surgery experiment in history. Too much money. Find a better hobby or better yet a charity.

Fergie

Jessica Simpso’s Lips!

Tara Reid’s stomach looks to be about forty years older than the rest of her.
Courtney Love: Creepy Stomach, and that Face :(
